Hosted by Southside ReLeaf
Southside ReLeaf invites volunteers to assist with our 2026 Tree Giveaway! We’re excited to provide up to 200 free trees to City of Richmond residents for planting on their own property — and we need your help to make the day a success.
What will volunteers do?
Volunteers will support multiple aspects of our Tree Giveaway. In addition to the main giveaway event, some volunteers will help deliver and/or plant trees for residents with limited mobility or transportation.
For planting and delivery support, our team will coordinate directly with homeowners in advance. Volunteers assisting with planting will work with residents to determine appropriate tree placement.
Here’s how you can help:
Event Setup: Offload and organize trees prior to the event
Onsite Giveaway: Distribute trees at Southside Plaza to residents with reservations and walk-ups
Runners: Help carry trees to participants’ vehicles as needed
Tree Delivery: Deliver trees to Richmond residents who cannot attend the event
Planting Assistance: Help residents plant trees safely and in appropriate locations
Event Cleanup: Load remaining trees and assist with breakdown; drivers may help transport leftover trees
Tree Check-Up: Support follow-up efforts to help ensure trees survive their first year
When?
Saturday, April 25. Volunteer shifts will be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to volunteer for the full day, but it’s not expected.
Where?
The giveaway will be hosted in the parking lot of Liberation Church.
